Basically I'm going to be moving in with my friend later this summer and she owns a 2 year old terrier (forgot what kind) named Zeus and I have a 3 year old cat, Dobby. We tried to introduce them today but zeus went crazy barking and growling really loud, and I had to close my cat off in another room.
My cat has been around another dog as my current roommate also has a dog however her dog is very shy and gentle honestly acts like a cat haha. Zeus, on the other hand, has never been around a cat so this was his first time seeing one. I understand his behavior is normal but I'm scared they will never acclimate. Zeus is very territorial and protective of my roommate so he does get aggressive when he thinks something or someone is dangerous. He doesn't bite people often but is still quite wary. Zeus is overall very different than my current roommates dog. Tbh I don't really like him that much as he's really loud but I love my friend enough to deal with living with her dog hahah.
Does anyone have any advice or experience with this? I just dont want to have to raise my cat in a room for a year (our lease is a year) and I'd like to see them get along.
