Cat meows throughout the night, and is also afraid/reluctant to be outside when the door is shut. Need advice on training

As the title says, I've got a cat who has been keeping me up lately due to constantly meowing right outside the bedroom door, often for hours at a time. I live in a small apartment, and there's no feasible way to keep her away from the door as there are no rooms between the living area and the bedroom, just a staircase.

She's always done it, but it wasn't as big of a problem before because I would sleep through it most of the time. Now it's keeping me up, and I'm not sure how to go about training her to stop.

Also, she will go outside by choice but only if the door is left open, and even then will mostly stay close by. If I shut the door, she starts scratching frantically at it and meowing until I let her in. Recently I've been trying leaving her out until she stops (she does sometimes go exploring a little if I do this). Will this work, or could it worsen things?
