Ive searched everywhere in my house i deem gerbil sized and i cannot find 1 out of the 2 gerbils i have, im guessing she went missing anywhere from 2-3am to now (4.00pm), i was unfortunately at school all day but made sure to refill their bottle and food dish before i left, when i got back i noticed one was running around almost frantic and the other one was no where to be seen so i searched around their tank and could not find her. After asking my dad about it he said she'll probably return soon and that this is just something they do, however we have a dog in my house and while the dog has bever been anywhere near the room where the gerbils are kept im worried something happened to the lost gerbil.
Another question is i have absolutely no clue why she left the cage to begin with, the 2 gerbils grew up together and are from the same litter, they also have an entire 35 gallon aquarium for the 2 of them, i feed them every day and make sure they have new clean water each day. The one who got away has done this before however she was out for maybe afew minutes before i saw her and after the fact i made sure to take out anything too tall that she could've used to get out. The tank has a lid with very small, maybe 1-1 1/2 inch gaps and i am so confused and distraught, im currently trying to stay near the aquarium to both look out for if the one comes back and also to comfort the other.
Will she come back? Im not expecting a clear answer, sorry.
