[HELP] Accidentally feral moved kittens from their mother

Hello r/Pets,

My wife and I found kittens with their mother today in our neighborhood and put the kittens in a box. We thought we would be helping their survival, but once we realised our mistake 20 minutes later, we put them back where we found them. Is this safe, or is it unlikely for the mother to find them again? Need advise. If the mother does come back, should we wait a couple of weeks before rescuing? Should we leave them be? Contact anyone?
