So I have two lovely cats, one is incredibly smart, and one is very pretty. My very pretty cat has had digestive issues on and off for his whole life. We are dealing with the beginning of Megacolon, and thus he needs to get special dry food and some medication mixed into wet food. So for the last 3ish months we've had the cats separated at night and when ever they ask in the day time so no one eats the wrong food.
In doing some research we have come across the Surefeed robot thing and decided to start with one to see how it works before diving deep into the investment. So far it's gone really poorly. My incredibly smart cat is pretty afraid of it. We have it switched to open all night, and then chip trigger when both cats are out, and the light and mechanical noise freak her out. We've covered the blinking light, but the noise when we manual open and close it have freaked her out enough to not use it. She just can't quite get the link that that noise means food, or isn't quite food motivated enough to not care.
The pretty one however, when using the collar tag, just dives right in. And he's afraid of everything. He's afraid of random paper, boxes, loud noises, going outside, car rides etc, but is incredibly food motivated.
So have any of you used this machine and had success training somecat that's freaked out at first into using it?
