(Side note (?): I posted on here a few months ago about what I should know about getting a cat, but in the end, I decided it would not be the best decision. unless anyone can change my mind on that comparing it to a rabbit? Aha. But you all were EXTREMELY helpful in helping me think about whether or not I should get a cat. I thought about it and them let it go, but I am seriously now starting to think that getting a rabbit is my best option especially in terms of cost.)
I have had...a lot of mental health problems since being a kid and I am still dealing with it. I have been thinking about since last year about potentially getting a pet and it being me emotional support animal. I would love to get a cat, but I do not think it would be such a good idea at all. With a dog and a cat, I know it can be quite more expensive to take care of and I just do not have that money especially in terms of medically. From what I can tell, a rabbit would be better economically?
- I am currently in post secondary and living alone, but the space I have is...TINY. I would say about 200 square feet or so?
- I am scared because I do not know if it is enough or not for a bunny if I got one. I would be getting a rabbit from the shelter, so I would like to get one that is able to free roam in the room when I am gone? I am scarred it won't be enough space. Can anyone tell me their experience with having a rabbit in a smaller size suite/apartment.
- I am in Canada. Does anyone have recommendations on pet insurance?
- Should I get pet insurance? Is it worth it?
- I have not been able to find information about the health conditions of older rabbits. What should I know?
- I would also like to get an older rabbit from the shelter that is around 5+ years old.
- Because I have a smaller space, I would like to get a smaller rabbit. I am thinking about a Holland Lop! But I am open to other suggestions?
- How has your experience been getting a rabbit from a shelter? The places I am looking at, they do home inspections, so I am scarred that I will be rejected just because I live in smaller suite, while they also judging me because I am in school.
- My partner and I are long distance and I see them in their country about...every 3 months or so? The flight is at most 2 hours with the shortest flights being 1 hour and 20 minutes. I am also VERY concerned about subjecting the rabbit to being in the air and just I do not know, I do not want him to go into shock or anything. It worries me. Does anyone have experience flying with their animal?
I will not be getting a rabbit (if I do) until August-September, but I would still like to get all the information and think about it long and hard before I come to a final decision.
