Hello! I really need help with my dog's behavioral issue. He obsessively licks people.
He was maybe 2 years old when I got him and he was abused. Not sure how badly, but he is not aggressive. He is fixed if it matters.
Without fail, each time you reach to pet him he will lick your hand. He will lick any part of you he can reach. I go to put a leash on him and he will do all he can to lick me. I will open the door to my house and literally, his mouth will be right there at the opening ready to lick my hand as it is on the door knob. The door will be open 2 inches and he will be licking my hand. Its horribly irritating and I need advice on how to get him to stop. It is so irritating that I am having trouble not acting angry towards him and to be honest I dont even like him at this point. Of course I still give him love because I chose to adopt him and never want him to go back to abuse. But it's to the point where I dont even want to go home because I know he will be there, licking me the entire time. Please help me train him out of this. I do not want to rehome him.
