My husband's grandmother passed away this week and left her house and two cats to us. We will be moving in there, and the cats are already very familiar with us and us to them. They're 4 and 8 years old. We've had a dog for 11 years, and they get along with the dog. And I grew up with cats. So we aren't new pet owners, just uncertain of current best practices in cats.
The cats are also overweight and have been on a diet of supermarket kibble. I'd really like to start by addressing that, but any advice would be very welcome.
