Hey guys, haven’t been on this sub much so I don’t know if this is within the rules here, but our 4-year old daschund Bella is terrified of her new water bowl. She has never had a problem drinking out of a bowl before, but we needed to upgrade to a new bowl recently and she now won’t go anywhere near it - even to the point where I had to give her water late at night recently out of a glass (which she had no problem drinking from and was clearly very thirsty).
She is also a little freaked out by her new food bowl, but will eat most of her food (although not completely clean out the bowl which she used to).
We’ve tried gently guiding her, trying to sit near the bowl and coax her over to see that it’s alright to drink from - hell, my partner even pretended to drink from the bowl as a last resort. But if we try to pick her up and place her in front of the bowl she gets freaked out and shakes a lot, which is unlike her and very worrisome.
What can we do? We’ve since fished out the old water bowl and cleaned it and she’s back to drinking it as normal, but it’s old and ratty and needs an upgrade. How do we transition her to a new bowl?
