I have brought home a new kitten and I have not yet let him meet my dog as I didn’t want to frighten the tiny kitten, my dog is a girl and is not neutered and has never had puppies, she is 11 years old and we were advised some time back that it’s too late to get the dog neutered. I assume the dog can smell the kitten in the house but am nervous to introduce them as my dog barks at other cats, she is currently showing signs of another phantom pregnancy (trying to feed teddy bears) (swollen mammary glands) (cuddling up to teddies in bed) she is acting depressed as well, this is not the first time she has had a phantom pregnancy.
Is this because of the kitten being in the house? If I introduce the kitten to the dog will she think it’s one of her offspring? Any advice on letting them meet for the first time would be great! Thanks
