Recently adopted a new cat, Humane Society lied about parasites and FIV testing

Last week on Wednesday my family adopted a male cat. He was neutered on Monday of the same week. We currently already have a 3 year old cat living at home that is a wonderful and happy girl (spayed). When looking for another companion we naturally went to the Humane Society first and fell in love with a little boy they named Pete. We were told he was brought in as a stray from a nearby town on April 30th and one week following he was neutered. I asked if he had any intestinal issues and if he was FIV or FIL positive. My cat back at home is all negative and I didn’t want to introduce issues. Was told no, no he’s a healthy boy that was just neutered so he needs to be watch for that and given these meds in the morning for the next 3 days. Ok no problem. We take him home and isolate him to the second bedroom. Bought him a big new carpet tree tower and all new toys. He’s super loving and affectionate. By Friday we notice that his very FOUL smelling diarrhea is not slowing down or getting better. I opened up his packet and saw in his vaccination/diagnosis page said he was given his rabies and several other abbreviated names that I thought were just vaccinations. It also stated on there that his FIV/FIL was Negative/Negative. Okkkkk. So I looked farther into the packet and on page 4 or 5 were his case notes. On April 30th he came in and was treated for a wound on his leg (not much description). Was treated for intestinal parasites AND was never actually tested for FIV or FIL. It’s a small, single line in the long mess of case notes that he wasn’t even tested for it. I am livid! I am angry that I asked this very specific questions and I was either lied to or was neglected in being told the truth! The cats have not met or touched and the poor boy is now in complete quarantine. We have clothes set aside that we change into (our female cat doesn’t have access to ANY bedroom) and we see the boy. When leaving we are changing out of those clothes and while naked going to bathroom and scrubbing our hands, face and forearms, then we change into non-contaminated clothes. I feel so bad for him and I want to do everything I can for him and we have bonded to him and want him to stay. I’m so angry with the humane society. I called my favorite vet and he has an appointment for Wednesday as it was the earliest he could go in. In his case notes it also said he needs round two of anti parasites for Tuesday (5/14) and of course no one told us anything. He is very happy and loving. Very hungry as he’s only 7.5lbs and very thirsty it seems (at least he’s consuming more water than my resident cat) his litter box is getting emptied every night. I just want to make sure I’m doing everything I can. I’m not experienced with cats. Our resident cat has been with us 2 years at this point and is doing great but her condition was much different when we first got her compared to him. And I want to know if there is anything else I can do, help, adjust? And if I should call the humane society and scream at them like I want to....

Thank you all in advance!!
