So after 5 days, I was finally able to catch my baby with a trap. I kept seeing him around the building every night, but I believe the other cats were scaring him away for him to go near my apartment. I even saw a racoon try to go for my trap before I scared it off.
Last night at 1am, two of the feral stray cats around my apartment were yowling, which I believe was at my cat since I did see him. I also saw the feral following my cat slowly. He was near the apartment but then backed away when he realized he was being followed. I had given up hope that night, I didn't think he would be brave enough to come back again after being frightened away by them. Then at 3am, I heard the trap go off. I didn't hear any thrashing at all, I didn't believe it was going to be my cat. But I ran downstairs and Lo and behold he was there! He ate most of the food and started meowing when he saw me and my bf. He wasn't even scared being in the trap.
I immediately gave him a fresh, full plate of food when we got home. He also drank a lot of water. Poor boy, I really don't think he ate or drank anything the whole time he was outside by the looks of it. He definitely came back looking a little skinny. I will be taking him to the vet tonight.
A shelter lady told me that a trap wasn't going to work on my cat, but y'all told me to try anyways, so I am deeply grateful for the advice. I also want to thank you guys for being concerned over an internet stranger's cat. I am so happy, thank you guys so much! ❤️
