Hi again, on my last post I talked about visiting a dog I've been wanting the past month from a humane society. So I visited Groot (the dog) today, and theres a couple things about his behavior I would like to fix but I do not know if it is possible. Groot is a 2 yr old 110 lb Ovcharka and he still thinks he's a puppy, so he still bites you when its play time (which is apparently all the time) and that's obviously a problem considering hes a 110 lb mini bear/wolf with giant teeth. Is there a way I can train him to STOP doing this? I figured pretending I was hurt would help, and it did cause I think he realized it wasnt good to bite during play time. Also, he gets very defensive when he sees other dogs or similar animals (hes had a problem with cats in the past too, but hes a dog.) So walking him would be a problem if we see another dog on a hiking trail. How can I stop this as well? Is it possible to train him to kind of ignore other dogs while walking? I know this breed is very protective and defensive of their owner. (I also dont have any other dogs in the house do this isn't a problem at home.) Reminder, he's 2 years old. Is he still trainable on my own if done properly and consistantly? Any advice helps! I absolutely love this beast and hes perfect but those two things are kind of big problems.
Short/Question: Is it possible to train a 2 year old dog to stop biting during playtime and to ignore other dogs while walking?
