This week I adopted a 2-year old domestic medium hair male cat through PetSmart's adopting program.
He looks like he used to be an indoor cat before, cuz he's quiet and loving human. So I was thinking that he must know how to use litter box. The first day went well. But during the second day, he once made a pee and a poo in my lap when I took him on my lap and played with him. He also makes a poo out side the litter box during the night (pee inside).
I took him to a cat bath in a grooming salon the next day, which is quite a mistake looking from now. Again, he peed 3 times during the cat bath. For these usual behaviors, that afternoon I went to a vet to check him out.
During the visit, the vet told me it might be that he is under stress since I took him here and there during a short period of time. The weird behaviors can disappear after a few days or they might not. Because it might also be he has UTIs. Since my appointment that day did not include the the urine exam, the vet asked me maybe book another appointment for the test.
My question is simple: Does it look like he has UTIs based on his behaviors?
I am concerned that taking him again too soon may increase his stress level again, since it is a 1 hr round way drive. On the other side I m afraid of hes really developing UTIs. Is there any suggestion on whether and when I should take him for the urine test.
