Would it be reasonable to ask someone who is rehoming their troubled cat to pay “cat support” if I were to adopt him?

I’m a cat person, and that’s putting it lightly. My living space is filled with the toys, multiple trees, & everything else my 3 cats enjoy. They eat a high quality commercial raw/canned diet and are otherwise well cared for, including dentals and other veterinary care. They’re my family(no human family) and I spend the majority of my time with them. I would love to have another one & so would my cats(they love other cats/previously lived with more). However, I’m now on a fixed income and it would be irresponsible to add another mouth to feed/the potential massive vet bills that could occur.

I just saw that a family has been trying to rehome their cat for over a month. He’s black(which hurts his likelihood of being adopted) and.. he pees on things. Two of my current cats came to me with major behavioral problems and I’ve helped countless people who had cats who urinated inappropriately. I’m willing to put up with the property damage and everything else that comes with dealing with this problem. I also feel he would likely stop this behavior, given what information they provided. A home with just cats, no children(they just had a baby), & someone home with him 24/7(they described him as being affectionate/demanding attention to the point of annoyance) and working with him would likely end his pee habit.

My question is... would it be unreasonable to ask for some amount of money(paid annually? Monthly?) to cover his food & veterinary costs? I know it’s something I would be happy to do if I was in a similar situation/financially secure but I understand that it’s an odd request. I also understand that, even if they were to agree to pay a certain amount, they could always cease payments as I doubt there’s a legally binding way to go about this.
