Hi everyone!
We have a 1 year old Black Lab-Shepard mix, who we adopted from a rescue at 9 months old. He's progressively become more anxious and on alert-- to the point where he's so scared to eat a meal in one sitting, if at all. Any noises, boxes, bags, whatever will have him backing away and scared.
We took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, and placed on Prozac. He's been on it for 3 weeks, so the full effect is not quite there yet. I know he must feel different though.
After the vet, we got in contact with a certified behavioral trainer who has experience working with anxiety.
He continues to attend level 1 obedience classes, as well.
What can we expect with these visits? Has anyone else dealt with this, and if so, did you find the sessions useful/successful?
We want to give our pup the best life possible and it's so incredibly difficult to see him struggle.
