Hey guys,
I've posted here before about 2 rescue dogs, luckily we've managed to make it work and they're living comfortably in my home with my family (shocking);
So here I come again, asking for advice
I have a cat, I'm going to refer to her as Beanie because I don't want anyone I know to recognize (I'm paranoid as hell lol)
Anyways, on to the problem;
My older brother has made the decision to move out of our home, and I initially had discussed with him the idea of maybe taking her to live with him in the new home, as she has to be in my room for a substantial amount of time due to the fact that I have a dog that lives with me that's not very friendly with her, and because we have the two new ones, we were afraid that she would have to be in my room constantly out of fear of her and the other dogs not getting along....
Here's the thing though, when my room door IS open, she doesn't leave....ever. She only leaves to go to another room (which is my old bedroom), but that's it. She doesn't go downstairs, she doesn't do anything other than play, eat lounge, and sleep near me.
Now, my issue stems from this- I don't want her to go. I love her with all my heart and the thought of her leaving brings me to tears; I don't feel that it's fair for me to displace her (she's 13 years old) because she seems perfectly content living here as is right now. Additionally, I'm trying to socialize her with my other two dogs which seems to be going great. They mostly leave her alone and she just sleeps and lies down, so I'm confident that I'll be able to have them at a comfortable place where I can leave my door open during the day when she's asleep.
I'm getting a lot of pressure from my family to give her to my brother or to have "shared custody" of her so that he can see her and I can see her but I don't really see the benefit or need for this. HE is the one who is deciding to leave, why should I have to give MY cat away?
Anyways; I have NO idea what to do; should I stand my ground and fight for her to stay? Do you think she'd be better off away from me? Should I try the 'shared custody'? I'm at a loss....I would greatly appreciate your advice, I have no idea what to do.....
