My brother has a 1 year old cat that has a certain type crystals and stones in its bladder and has been in extreme discomfort and urinating blood. They’ve tried to remedy the situation with a recommended diet from the vet but so far no improvements have been made. They’re remaining patient but want to be prepared to make an educated decision for them financially and for the cats own well being. They’ve already paid for X-rays and ultra sounds over $300. The vet quoted the surgery at around $900 which they can not afford. They’re located in Warren, Rhode Island and are feeling stuck in their current situation.
I’m just hoping for some advice or insight from anyone who has experienced financial issues with a pet they can no longer afford. Is a shelter a possible option or is putting the cat down the only realistic option if things don’t get better? Appreciate any help and just want to say thanks in advance.
