To sleep or not to sleep

I'm not sure if this is where i should post this but...

We have a 7 year old english bulldog mix and a 1 year old huskie mix. The 1 yo is still hyper and bigger than the 7 yo. The 7 yo is turning into the grumpy old man and doesn't want anything to do with 1 yo, but 1yo won't leave him alone. They've gotten into 1 fight previously which no damage was done. Two days ago they started fighting again and wouldn't stop. When I finally got them pulled apart the 7 yo had open wounds on both front legs, head, ears and neck he was covered in blood. The 1yo has a small cut above one of his eyes. Obviously after only two days 7yo is still really sore and ticked off. He growls when the 1yo comes near him.

The problem is we have a 3 yr old daughter that doesn't understand that he is still hurting. According to my fiance she accidentally stepped on 7yo leg he yelped and snapped at her (he didn't bite her). Supposedly he snapped at the 1yo when he came near him too. 7yo is fine any other time even with our daughter he loves her attention even now as long as she is careful about where she pets him.

Fiance wants to put 7yo down. I'm heart broken! I know 7yo just needs time to heal and he will be fine with our daughter. My kids are my everything and if i truly thought he posed a risk to her or any kids I'd try to find him a kid/pet free home. I'm not sure if things will ever be better between the two dogs. Letting them outside (where the fights have started) separately and locking them in separate crates/cages while unsupervised is an option to me at least. Am I being stupid for wanting to save 7yo from being put to sleep? He was the absolute perfect dog (even with my cocker that passed 2 yrs ago) until the 1yo was brought into the picture.
