My previous partner and I were looking at getting a cat when we were together. After going to the shelter a few times, we went together and we picked out a cat for him and I paid the adoption fee. It was a present type situation. The kitty has stayed at my house and I buy all his supplies. He is quite destructive, but he is a kitten so I expect him to calm down. However, upon me and my partner splitting, he impulse bought a second cat and cannot take care of my little tenant. Here’s the complication-I have cptsd that is triggered by the cats noise at night. He’s a sweet cat. Indoor/outdoor, just a bit of a nuisance as adolescence are. I would prefer to not give him up, as he is basically my responsibility now and I would feel guilt over what could possibly happen to him. I have difficulty trusting that others would take care of him so I would prefer to not give him up or return him to his little box in the shelter. He’s a little baby who needs love. Does anyone have advice on how to deal with curious/noisy kitties? I want to try to see if I can disassociate him as a trigger so I can’t live in peace and actually get some sleep. Advice is much appreciated, thank you!
