Should I Get My Cat Put To Sleep?

My cat is around 15 years old and was just diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. He has been puking a lot (a couple times a week) for the past few months and nothing seems to really help it. That might not sound like a lot but when he pukes, it’s a ton of puke in multiple areas of the basement. His stomach is constantly making noises and he seems to be sick most of the time. We went to the vet and used IV fluids, and a new diet. Neither of those seem to help. My partner said that we should consider putting him down and I don’t know if I agree with that. He seems very happy when he sees me and can still function almost the same as he always did, just not as active. He does seem to be dehydrated sometimes because he drinks a ton of water and cries (or howls) a lot at night. Sadly, he isn’t allowed upstairs due to the new furniture, which is where we spend most of our time. We don’t have very much time to see him and he spends a lot of time alone. Its hard for me to even consider putting him down, but if he is unhappy or suffering it might be the best option. Any opinions?
