My dog, my roommate, and resentment. Advice?

Perhaps I just need to get a different perspective on this situation. I tried not to become resentful, but now I'm feeling resentful. And I'm wondering if my roommate feels the same way for different reasons.

I moved in with my close friend 2 years ago, and things have been really good for the most part. We get along well. I got a dog over a year ago and my roommate really likes him! I try not to ask her to do too much for him, but every once in a while, I can't come home for lunch or I'll be home late and I ask her to let him out.

In the past, she's asked me to pay her -- $5 for a walk, $20 for a night or weekend away. That was fine, but I don't have $5 to spend every time I can't come home for lunch. I just ask her to take 20 seconds to let him out the back door to pee. It's not like he needs a full walk at lunch time.

Well she's off every Friday, and she hasn't offered to let him out or anything. I don't really want to spend 30 mins traveling to and from work on my lunch break if she could let him out and it takes 20 seconds. Can anyone relate? I just am starting to feel resentful because she never offers to help. But perhaps I shouldn't expect it.

Thoughts?
