I've been dying to own a cat for the last four years but I haven't gotten one yet due to this absolutely ridiculous pet deposit situation at my apartment. These aren't even nice apartments. They are pretty slummy if I might add.
I recently got my tax return which I was thinking about using to cover the expenses, but I would much rather spend that $640 on my cat in the case of vet bills.
Recently though I've been seeing if I could get approved for a ESA through my therapist because I do have legit depression/suicidal struggles and I highly think a pet would help me maintain a sense of routine. I haven't had any luck though with moving that forward despite mentioning it to my new therapist who should be certified to give out ESA certificates. I don't want to use those scam websites and I certainly do not believe in manipulating the system in a way with false documentation from the internet.
What do I do? Should I just tough it out until I find another place whenever the lease ends in another year or cough up $640 for a cat not including the cat expenses? Can I negotiate
