My Pit Lab mix is one and a half years old is going through a false pregnancy, we realized the day she got spayed. The day before I bought her a purple puzzle bone and she previously showed no interest in it. Since she's basically bed bound, I offered it to her so she wouldn't be so bored. As soon as I gave it to her, she took it and went on to the 50 pound bean bag we have in the living, sat it down on it, and then whined and started nesting non stop.
She's always nested a little bit but she usually either settles down or I'll tell her to stop and she'll lay down. This time though, she completely ignored me. I finally took the bone away and stuck it between me and the couch, with a kitten in my lap. She completely stuck her muzzle between the kitten, my leg, and the couch in order to grab it, and the went right back to doing it. I finally took it away and put it high on the book shelf. Now I'm worried about her climbing the couch to get it, especially with her fresh stitches. After that, even though she saw where I put it, she wandered around the house looking for it, whining occasionally.
Why would she do this to a toy she didnt care about? And also, should I have taken it away or let her get it out of her system? I don't like it when she nests on the bean bag because it isn't mine, it's my roommates, and a bean bag that big is expensive.
