Hello!
Back in september '19 i adopted a 8,5 year old labrador. She is lovely and has gotten really good. She walks off the lead and if i call he she comes right away. I have a crate, got a blanket, and toys in there. I feed her in there every day, so when i am putting food in her bowl at the pantry, she already goes running to her crate. So she has learnt that the crate is something good and positive. She often goes in there by herself to sit/lie down while i am in the kitchen.
But she absolutely despises being in there with the doors bolted. Like, she is so strong, she will break out within 2 seconds. I have tried 2 types of crates (thinking the first one i had was just too weak).
Because she hates the crate being bolted, i always just let her roam free/choose where she wants to sleep. So she sleeps with me on my bed. I am fine with this.. except...
Now, this coming summer i am going to a 4 day festival. So my dog is going to sleepover at my sisters house. She has a dog and a cat.
So when she goes to sleepover, i want her to be able to sleep through the night in a crate without whining or breaking out.
So i have decided i need to start crate training. But how do i even start crate training if she breaks out within 2 seconds?!
Even with securing the crate door with the two bolts, and 5 zipties, she will still break out!
Help?!
