As the title suggests I’m a career firefighter that would like to invite a husky or potentially a different breed of dog into my life. I’m not new to owning a husky but this would be the first time doing it solo. I have a house with a fenced in yard for him or her to play and a basement where he or she could play without getting into much trouble. My dilemma is that when I’m working I am gone for 10-14 hours at a time without ability to come home during shift. I have lots of time off with my rotation but when I’m at work I’m locked in. I work 2 day shifts 2 night shifts then 2 days off. 2 days 2 nights then six days off. Repeat. I live a very active lifestyle so when I am home taking care of exercise isn’t a problem. I’m wondering if anyone has any advice or experience with leaving a pet alone in a similar situation.
