I have been a lover of dogs since I was young and have always wanted one. I'm finally in a position where I'm living on my own in a reasonably sized one bedroom apartment with a balcony. Greyhounds are my favourite and a local adoption shelter is having an opening this weekend.
A very beautiful looking 2.5 year old female greyhound caught my eye, however the only thing I'm concerned about is that I'm not at home from 9am to 5pm during the day (Mon to Fri). I would only have 3 days (Fri evening to Mon morning) to stay with them until I'm out during the day and home in the evening again. I enjoy going on morning and evening runs so I would love to take them out during that time.
Regardless of that, would it be cruel to leave them at home so shortly after adopting? I am guessing they should have at least a few weeks of constant company before doing that?
Please let me know your experiences. If this is cruel I won't adopt her.
Thank you.
