I have a dog and I know that if I left him alone for 1 hour with an available supply of food that was supposed to be rationed out over several meals, he would eat all of it in one sitting. I know this because he's gotten into stuff he shouldn't have before and ate every last drop and later got sick.
So can anyone explain how people are able to leave their cats alone overnight (or even two nights) and the cat doesn't eat everything at once?
I ask because I'm considering getting a cat and may have to leave her alone overnight every few months or so and was wondering if it would be ok to leave out an adequate supply of food/water or would I need to invest in some timed food dispenser machine.
