Hello! I’m a first time poster in here! I am looking for some advice. I’m going over to my boyfriends house this weekend but this time I’m bringing my dog with me. Usually I leave him with family/friends, but my bf and I are long distance and I don’t want to have to keep bothering people to watch him. Plus he’s my little guy and I want to take him with me. He’s a bit shy/stand offish when it comes to meeting new people and small animals but he warms up fast. He never bites either, only barks when he thinks people are hurting me.
My only concern is that my boyfriend has a German shepherd and two cats. My dog is a chiweenie (chihuahua/dachshund mix) so he’s smaller compared to the German shepherd lol. I know he should be fine with the cats because I’ve introduced him to cats before and he pays no mind to them. I’m mainly concerned about the German shepherd. The German shepherd is super sweet but I just get nervous. I’ve introduced him to large dogs before and he got along with one of them but the other one not so much because that one was too rambunctious and was scaring him since that dog was jumping on me. I think he thought I was getting hurt meanwhile the dog was just super excited to see me.
I’m thinking that when I arrive that’ll I’ll probably carry my dog in and maybe sit down and introduce him to the German shepherd while he’s in my lap? Or is that a bad idea??
