First off I'm sorry for upcoming wall of text and I'm running on adrenalin so I don't even know if this is the right subreddit to ask the question of, "how do I talk to the owners about whether they'll cover the cost of the hospital bill."
Background info: My fam and I were heading home and barely noticed a neighbor's dogs were loose. I didn't see anyone outside and I'm not gonna lie we were close to running over one of the dogs. I got out of the car and tried to corral the one into the neighbors yard. The other dog was at the top of the stairs of the neighbor's house and I was just trying to get the other one out of the street.
Didn't touch him and the other one runs down and I'm like, ok this dog is coming im just gonna squat down and don't be seen as aggressive. Welp I put my hand to swish it away. She bites and I don't really react because all I feel is the pressure. She lets go and goes after my shoes.
While this is going on, sis is calling nonemergency to get the dogs off the road and then I yell out that I got bit. Finally one of the owners comes out of the house and realizes both are out and calls them back in. I head over and tell her both were out and I got bit. She looks surprised and yells out that the dog is up to date with shots.
I had to go to the hospital and I've talked to the cops, who said they'd inform me whether the dog is actually up to date on rabies.
