We just adopted a 9 week old female chihuahua puppy and having trouble with other dog accepting her. We have a 5 year shiatsu, he is a very cowardly dog- about 5 months ago our 13 year old chihuahua passed away and we figured it was time for another one. We thought the shiatsu would like having another playmate, instead he hides upstairs and won't come down. When we bring him down and put him in the kitchen with the puppy he runs away from her when she approaches. Was thinking of putting them in separate dogs crates and leaving them side by side for a few hours each day kind of forcing him to get used to the puppy. I don't want to mess up and end up with having him hate the new dog, any thoughts or tips on getting him acclimated? Its funny, when we got a new kitten last year he didn't have any problems with the cat and quickly became good buddies.
