New puppy meeting our two cats, advice?

Yesterday my fiance and I got a new puppy. He's nine weeks old and a very sweet boy. When we brought him home, we let him roam downstairs while I sat upstairs with the cats and let them smell his scent on me. Then we introduced the boys to the new puppy one at a time, starting with our younger, friendlier cat. Obviously the cats seemed apprehensive at first but not aggressive. They kept a slight distance and their tails twitched side to side but they seemed curious and occasionally came up to the puppy for a good sniff. Right now my fiance is asleep in bed with the puppy right next to his head and the cats are sleeping at his feet. But they're all sleeping in the same bed together. This is a good sign, right? Have we been introducing them properly? Any advice on how to further proceed so that all of them are happy, healthy, and safe would be greatly appreciated!
