So I'm 1 year friends with a feral cat that I had neutered, just looking for some input for best outcomes

Made friends with a male feral cat a year ago. Called him over, petted him once and fed him Vienna Sausage that day. He's been coming back at least once a week ever since. Now I get bags of catfood from walmart for routine meals.

It saddened me to see him hurt as a result of fighting with other cats or even dogs I assume. I figured I could at least feed him more to gain some weight and at least hold his own more in fights. He just kept coming back to me with injuries of course, so I finally got him neutered, 2 weeks ago. I do see less roaming, but he did get into another altercation it seems about 2 days ago. Glad it was just a few scratches.

Any input in relation to cat aggression after neutering, cat wound care, or diet would be appreciated.

He tends to catch birds, lizards and mice outside of the house, eating them-- is that safe? We don't leave out rat poison anywhere, I don't think my neighbors do either.

Tell me anything about cats I might need to know, thanks in advance.

I could post a picture of him if its worth anything.
