I have a 12 year old pug, so he is fairly old but still could have some good years left in him. Today he started acting a bit odd and slept underneath a chair-side table which was weird because he has never slept there before in his entire life and the spot is also cluttered with wires and stuff from the outlet and lamps. We put a pillow there for him so it would be more comfortable.
Then just recently, he started emitting an extremely strong odor that pretty much cleared the room of people and my other dogs went to him to see what was up. My parents took him outside to see if he needed to go to the bathroom and then when he came back in the smell had mostly gone away (they arent sure if he went to the bathroom or not, but most likely not). I wasnt there when it happened so I cant really describe the smell but all my parents could describe it as was extremely strong and unpleasant. It didnt smell like poop or anything, just a very bad smell. All together it only lasted about like a minute or 2 before the smell went away.
I just smelled him and cant smell anything bad at all so he seems normal. Being an old dog, he is generally more slow and tired than he used to be but other than that, he has been extremely healthy. He exercises every day, eats very high quality food, has plenty of medicine and stuff to help with his joints and other normal issues. We are calling the vet tomorrow morning and getting him checked out, but the odd sleeping spot and very bad smell made me want to post this and see if anyone knew anything. I have heard that dogs tend to hide themselves away from people and other dogs when they feel like their time is coming to an end, so I'm a little worried.
If anyone knows anything at all, that would be great.
