Sick cat... advice

So my cat has been acting oddly lately. My dog about 2 weeks ago came down with an ear infection, and before medication was acting on edge while also shaking his ears a lot. My cat the last week has acted oddly, acting very erratically and displaying a loss of balance as well as showing some signs of ear discomfort. Upon looking up symptoms for inner ear infections for cats online, he seems to fit the bill to a T, so we’ve began to give him the drops.

My question is this; how do I act to limit my cats weird behavior? Tonight, he got into the storage room and got stuck under a pile of decorations and other things, and luckily I looked for him and found him. Going forward, I’m limiting his environment to a smaller area of the house to make it easier to know where he is. This is all made more stressful when considering he’s an elderly cat, at 15 y/o.

I want to make sure that he remains safe and comfortable, as it’s clear he’s under a good bit of pain, which can be particularly stressful for animals considering they don’t understand it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
