Flea fear is ruining my relationship with my cat

Last summer, my cat got fleas and my house was infested for three months. They would constantly bite me and crawl all over me and it was hell to live with. I finally got rid of them, and haven’t seen a single flea in almost a year. I’m positive that there are NOT any in my house whatsoever. However, now when I get anxious (especially if im in bed) I start to itch uncontrollably. It feels like there are fleas biting me and crawling on me.

Not to mention that it is ruining my relationship with my cat, who is flea treated. I have so much anxiety about her having fleas again that whenever I see her, I start to itch. If she scratches herself for whatever reason, it’s even worse. I can’t pet or cuddle with her for long because it stresses me out so much. Logically I know that she doesn’t have fleas, but even the sight of her triggers anxiety for me. I love her, and don’t want to ever give up on her, but I have considered putting her up for adoption because of this problem.

If anyone has any advice, please let me know. Thank you :(
