The fate of the "lockdown" pets

I was reading an article today (UK) about the signifcant increase in abandoned and surrendered pets now that lockdown 3.0 is ending.

The irresponsible people who purchased animals they now don't have the time or energy for, or just can't be bothered so they are just throwing them away like so much rubbish.

It hurts my heart to think of them, already the shelters are struggling. So many of these animals will have to be euthanised because they can't be rehomed. Abandoned and scared because they don't know why their world changed or where their people have gone. These are lives, real lives that we are responsible for and I just... I can't understand.

I'm know I'm shouting into the void (but we all know that sometimes the void looks back) and I'm sure many of you echo the same sentiments. I wish I could do more, I wish I could take care of all of them.

If you are looking for a new pet please please please adopt don't shop and give someone a second chance and maybe save a life.
