I recently adopted an older cat (about 10 years old) from my local shelter, he's a total sweetheart and very loving. A few nights ago, he bit my scalp a few times, it wasn't a hard bite, mostly a play bite, but it still hurts because well, it's my scalp. He's continued to do this each night since.
I try and deter him, and move away when he's clearly going in for the bite, but he seems really really determined to bite my head, he even jumped at me one time when I shifted away. Again, they're really play bites it seems, but I'd prefer he stopped doing this.
Some relevant details might be that he had some tooth extractions a couple days before I adopted him (two weeks ago).
Has anyone experienced this? Any insight as to why he's doing it? How can I get him to stop?
