My cat might be blind. Advice?

Hey all. I took my cat to the vet today because I noticed she was acting off. She's been bumping into walls and having accidents in some odd places away from her litter box. The vet says she's blind and has high blood pressure -- which he thinks caused the blindness. Her bumping into walls has been fairly recent - like the past few weeks. Before that I felt she was responsive - to toys bouncing about, to me, etc.

The vet said she needs to take medicine for the blood pressure, and I should go see an ophthalmologist for cats to get a better opinion of what is going on.

Some info on my cat is she is 16 years old, domestic cat, mostly indoors. She goes on our balcony a lot. She has FIV, her kidneys have slight issues for her age which makes sense, and she has asthma.

I feel I should take her to get a formal opinion from an ophthalmologist but am open to advice here... on what to do and also what to make things easier for her right now.
