At risk of loosing our cat

Hi all,

I’m writing you today concerning a beautiful little kitten that we got a week ago.

Reading the tenancy agreement of our flat, there was nowhere mentioned that a cat was not allowed in our property and we decided to adopt one. Being probably a bit too honest and stupid I told the letting agency that we had a cat. We’ve always kept the flat spotless and wanted to think that honestly would allow them to trust us to keep the property in good condition. I guess you can easily see the rest of the story … the letting agency told us that we couldn’t keep the cat.

These are pretty stressful times and I’m hoping for some good reddit advice on what we should do next .

These are the options I’m thinking off - tell them we’re keeping the cat. Can they really do anything if our tenancy agreement does not specific that pets are not allowed ? What do we risk ? We want to change at the end of the tenancy anyway - keep the cat without telling the landlords. They would probably never find out. What do we risk here ? - move to a new flat = same pet problem - buy our own property = would take everything we have saved … in an area we probably don’t want to stay - Giving the cat back is a possibility but would really break our hearts in 1000000 pieces. - give the cat to family. But still loosing our loved little furrball.

Many thanks !
