hey everyone,
my cat is in general a very friendly, curious and playful cat. however when my partner comes and stays for some days, she starts to hide more and more during the day, barely being with us in the same room and as soon as he leaves or sleeps, she would come out and be her normal self.
my partner didn’t have much knowledge on how to interact with cats so i gave him some advices, like giving his finger/hand first or kneeling down to the ground and she would then go to him and rub herself on him. he genuinely tries to get along with her, however can be quite ignorant when he is in a bad mood. he definitely doesn’t share my furry love.
what worries me to the most is that my cat becomes severely sick when i leave them alone. it usually happens when my partner and me got into a fight/argument and i would go for a walk to calm my emotions. when i come back, i would find her in severe pain, not being able to walk, peeing herself and just looking super frightened. i don’t think he would touch her or has ever touched her, yet my cats strange behaviour really worries me.
my partner is a bit of an odd character, what initially attracted me to him. his ego is quite infatuated which covers underneath insecurities (what he probably isn’t aware off), however he puts his mask aside and is super loving and generous when we are together. his emotional intelligence only displays with me. i have noticed him being dominant and intimidating towards others tho.
since a while now i have the feeling i need to decide whom i choose, my cat or my relationship. i love my cat unconditionally and feel very concerned of potentially losing her. however my intuition is telling me that she won’t get along with him. what should i do? please help
