Is it wrong to lock my cat in my room on weekdays so it doesn't play with my roommates cat?

I technically can't lock it because I live in a loft without a door, but I've seriously been thinking about getting wood slabs to block it off so he can't get out.

I got my cat 2 months ago and he is still getting used to me. I don't want him to bond with her cat before me. My cat is also well behaved and listens when I tell him things. Her cat does whatever he wants, including scratch furniture. I don't want my cat to learn this behavior, he is only 1.5 years.

I want to keep my cat "locked" in my room all day on weekdays and let him out when i get home from work and on weekends.

Is this mean? Especially if he wants to explore the rest of the apartment?

TL;DR Roommates cat is badly behaved, i don't want my new impressionable cat to learn bad habits from being around him all the time + I want him to bond with me.
