Sudden cat aggression question

My husband and I recently went away for a week leaving our cats at home. My mother came daily to feed and water them and hang out with them for a while. Towards the end of the trip our kitchen floor was replaced while we were gone, causing a lot of noise in the house while we were gone. Upon return the cats were happy to see us, however, our two year old female is now hissing and low “growling” at our 6 year old male cat. Shes never done this even as a kitten when we first got her. He is submitting to her and showing her his stomach and just wants to play with her like they usually do. They can now at least be in the same room without her hissing but if he gets too close she starts to become aggressive. Any ideas on a resolution? Just ride it out in the hopes that she gets back to a normality?
