Hi all,
This Sunday, wife and I adopted this gorgeous 5-year domestic shorthair cat, who is FIV+. He is already extremely loving (he will sit next to us on the couch and let us pet him forever. For example, tonight I probably spent 1h petting him while watching something on Netflix). That being said, there are two behaviors which... worry me a bit? Maybe worry is a strong word, given that he's only been here for two days.
1) He is extremely lazy. He simply can't be bothered to play, and hardly jumps to explore higher surfaces. The only time I saw him jump anywhere is to go on the couch. He also seems to spend his whole time sleeping. I know obviously cats sleep a lot, but it seems excessive in his case. I'm trying to play with him so that he doesn't get bored, but he doesn't seem to care much for it.
2) He still gets somewhat nervous, jittery and jumpy when we walk around him. If he's sleeping he might be ok, but if he's walking somewhere and I walk next to him, he scares somewhat easily and dashes away. He doesn't go into hiding, but he dashes out of my way
Any advice or tips on how to address these two behaviors?
