Hi,
First some basic info:
Cat - tabby, 8 yo, 7.5 lbs.
She vomited twice in four hours two weeks ago and then seemed totally fine. Two days ago, she began vomiting again, but this time it hasn’t subsided. She refuses to eat, drink, play, or take medicine. The vet prescribed her various medications - notably cerenia - after performing an x-ray and finding nothing irregular internally.
I’m posting for a few reasons:
-
When we gave her cerenia, she tasted the bitterness and began foaming at the mouth uncontrollably. The majority of foaming ceased after ten minutes, but she still smacks her lips a lot and continues to occasionally drool/foam. Is this normal?
-
Has anyone experienced this kind of illness before? How did you handle it?
-
How can I get her to drink water? I want to make sure that she’s hydrated, but she salivates and vomits every time I put wet food in front of her and is completely disinterested in water. I tried to use a plastic syringe, but she despises it and wildly shakes her head away when I try to use it.
Any help at all is appreciated. Thank you.
