American Airlines and Cats

Hello,

First time traveling with a cat here (a feisty, scaredy cat that will flip out when she's upset and in transit). We are purchasing a harness and an approved underseat bag and taking an american flight with one connecting flight from Maine to Oklahoma in two weeks. I have a couple questions for those who have done this before:

1 - Will TSA do a private closed room screening so my cat can not flip out as much and potentially escape?

2 - Will the cat count as the carry-on and does that mean my wife won't be able to bring another one? Or could we pay for two? She needs her 'stuff' with her because she's a woman and all.

3 - If my cat meows for 5 hours, will my wife get booted from the flight?

Sorry for the ignorance but we've never done this before, and we're going to be doing it again with our other cat next year (long story but two trips actually makes more sense in our situation)

Thanks and happy thanksgiving!
