Ok so a little background. Our mini labradoodle is 3 and has had some flare ups with a possible spinal issue. We have taken him in 3-4 times in the past 10 months and gotten anti-inflammatory and pain meds which has helped each time. Yesterday he was in really rough shape. Crying every time he moved essentially, so I rushed him to our normal vet where they sedated him and did hip and back x-rays along with some blood work. The doctor who we really like was kind of at a loss but told us to follow up with a neurologist, which we are doing Tuesday. When we got home he was came down off the adrenaline rush of being at the vet (he is inherently anxious), and just laid lethargically on the couch. He seemed like he was in a lot of pain all night, breathing fast, panting, whimpering, etc. Out of nowhere at 1AM he hops off the couch, no cries, eats, drinks a bunch of water and goes outside and does his thing. He then jumped on the bed (he had been on the couch all day and I was laying with him there all night) and just goes right to sleep. No heavy breathing, no crying, nothing. Like a complete 180. So now I’m just confused. He’s acting normal now with the exception of a bit of gait lethargy. I’m keeping the appointment with the neurologist but I’m just so confused. The vet told us spinal issues can spiral quickly so I want to make sure he’s totally good, but does anyone have experience with a pinched nerve? My wife and I are so nervous but today he’s acting like nothing happened. Is it possible the anti inflammatory just kicked in and he feels better? I just am looking for any insight, thank you all and happy thanksgiving.
