Cat came out of narcose earlier for castration, keeps behaving really weirdly while trying to drink.

So today we had our cat submitted for castration as he was 8 months old now, and later today (about 2 hours ago) we picked him back up. He was pretty chill after getting out of narcose/sedation, wasn't being heavily sleepy and is normally responsive to physical contact. However, just now we're experiencing our cat to behave VERY weirdly to when they try to drink.

Whenever they try to drink, they just walk with both paws right into the water bowl, and flip it over when they try to drink, making a mess and resulting them into not drinking at all. This is very concerning as, given his continious tries to drink, he's very thirsty, and can't drink. The bowl we have is curved down (meaning that the bottom is wider than the top), which is already hard to just 'tip over', yet it still happens, and there isn't a pet store nearby that's open and sells any other alternative.

Is this kind of behavior normal for them to have only a few hours after leaving sedation? What can we do to help him drink (regardless whether he makes a mess. The fact he drinks is more important here.)?
