Cat keeps making my dog bleed

So I adopted a cat and a dog a while ago and they became friends immediately. They sleep together, play a lot (I never leave both of them alone) and everything. However, every now and then the cat goes for the dog's tail and scratches it so hard the dog bleeds.

The dog doesn't seem to be too bothered by it but I do worry a lot about her since she does bleed quite a bit and the "attacks" seem to be increasing now. I don't even see when that happens, I suspect the cat just hides and then attacks my dog's tail then, but not when they're playing.

What can I do? Is there a way I can protect my dog's tail or something?
