Is $1800 a normal charge for a tooth extraction?

Hi there,

My cat (rescue) has bad gums, and needs a tooth extracted.

Last year I couldn't afford it and was quoted $1000, but now the vet says it's more like $1800 and I already paid for an additional checkup day where they took her blood work and vaccines etc.

I just want to know if this is in the ballpark of other owners' experience.
